Economics and Statistics Department

Provides the economic analysis and statistics behind the State's fiscal policy and budget: it collects and analyses economic data, prepares the Budget Outlook Paper and the Macro-Fiscal Framework, and produces forecasts and economic reports.

Key responsibilities

Collect, compile and publish the State's economic and fiscal statistics.
Prepare the Budget Outlook Paper and the Macro-Fiscal Framework as set out in the budget calendar.
Produce revenue and economic forecasts for budget decisions.
Analyse economic trends and evaluate the impact of economic and fiscal policies.
Provide data and advice on the budget to the Minister and the Budget Policy Committee.
Work with national and international statistical and economic institutions.
